Dr Georg Fritz

Dr Fritz is a Senior Lecturer for Synthetic Biology at the University of Western Australia. With a PhD in theoretical physics and a postdoc background in microbiology, he combines computational modelling and molecular biology to equip microbes with novel functions. Georg’s heart beats for applications that contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future, making him throw everything he’s got at cracking antimicrobial resistance, developing rapid microbial plastic degradation platforms and improving the production of bioplastics. Besides teaching microbes new tricks, he loves the great outdoors, is a passionate windsurfer and explorer of Australia’s remote wilderness.

We’re driven to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges – are you?
